Analysis of music video - AC/DC

AC/DC - Thunderstruck

Camera:
The opening to this music video includes a on-board camera (Go pro style) on the drummers sticks as he plays. It is a ECU of the symbol. Then its another on-board camera on the band members guitar as a ECU, which allows the audience to see up close the guitarist playing and denotes the complexity of the song and also shows the crowd in the background cheering. A pan, long shot is used positioned in the crowed as it pans from right to left covering the stage and each band member as they play their instruments and creates a sense of the viewer being inside the crowd at this concert. Low angled shot are used throughout the video to look up at the band members as they perform and connotes they're importance and dominance on stage over the vast crowd. An ariel shot is used to show the stage and the stand in which the crowd are standing on. This connotes the large size and the vast production during this performance. Tracking shots are used in this music video to track each band member as they move across the stage which also allows the viewers to see the crowd in front of them at this concert. A shot from behind the drummer shows the vast crowd and allows the audience to see what the drummer is playing. long shots, mid shots and close ups all show each band member perform with they're different instruments. A P.O.V shot is used, positioned in a upper stand to create a sense of the audience being at this concert and what it would be like through the crowds eyes at this performance. A low angled shot is used to shoot the guitarist as he moves across the stage. The shot is filmed under a transparent glass floor. The camera rotates 360 degrees to show the whole production and the crows surrounding the stage.

Mise-en-scene:
The band is positioned in a typical way including: the drummer at the back, the two guitarists at either side of the stage and the singer aligned in the centre of the stage, at the front. This connotes the singer is the most significant and has the most authority on stage. However, the guitarist travels across the stage showing his dominance and authority on stage.
Lighting is positioned high up in the stage and on the stands which shines as spotlights on the stage, the band and each member as they perform.

Sound:
The sound is from the band performing using their instruments including: drums, guitars and the vocals from the lead singer. Rock genre.

Editing:
Jump cuts are used throughout this music video to cut between each band member, the crowd and the production. The jump cuts allow the visuals to keep up with the tempo and pace of the song and the bad performing at each stage. The fast cuts connotes the lifestyle of rock musicians as they live fast and to the full. Finally, the music video fades out to blank connoting the ending of the song and therefore the music video.
